“No Ka `Oi” (no kah oy) is Hawaiian for “The Best” and Lilikoi (lee lee koy) is Hawaiian for Passion Fruit. Although native to Brazil, Lilikoi was introduced to the Hawaiian Islands in 1880 from Australia. The Lilikoi vine quickly became popular in home gardens and by 1930 could be found wild on all the islands of the Hawaiian chain.
